What is a mentor?

Mentors are people with a track record of integrating purpose into their work who can provide time and expertise to support individual changemakers and/or social enterprises. Mentoring will be tailored to the needs of the individual or enterprise and can be delivered in different ways to support their growth. This may include:

  • Being a sounding board for ideas and decisions;

  • Exploring options and guiding on the way forward;

  • Making introductions within the social enterprise and/or impact investing sectors.

The ideal mentor

To provide the best experience for all involved, the Social Impact Hub is looking for mentors who meet the following criteria:

  • Have considerable experience working with social enterprises and/or impact investors.

  • Have a demonstrated capacity to develop others and an interest in further developing these skills.

  • Be willing to devote time to support Social Impact Hub’s social enterprise capacity building initiatives and/or fellowship programs.

What is the time commitment?

The time commitment for a mentor varies depending on the support you provide but is a minimum of three 1 hour mentoring calls or face-to-face meetings (approximately 1 meeting/month).

How do I become a Social Impact mentor?

If you are interested in becoming a Social Impact mentor, please reach out to us. The Social Impact Hub team will contact you to discuss the opportunities available. If you are an existing Professional Impact Network member, please just email our Client Experience Coordinator, Kasia Brulinksi, to let her know you are willing to be a mentor.
